Lauren Kelly is in her fourth year as Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning at the University of Maryland, where she oversees the strength and conditioning programs for the Terrapins' women's soccer and gymnastics teams. Kelly develops and implements comprehensive performance training programs designed to enhance athletic performance, reduce injury risk, and support long-term athlete development.
In addition to her team responsibilities, Kelly has played a significant role in the professional development of future strength and conditioning coaches. She served as the University of Maryland Strength & Conditioning Internship Director through the spring of 2026 and currently serves as the department's Sports Science Internship Director, mentoring and educating aspiring professionals in performance training and athlete monitoring.
Kelly joined Maryland in July 2023 after spending three years at Wake Forest University, where she worked with the women's soccer and track & field programs. Prior to Wake Forest, she spent five years at the University of Cincinnati, overseeing strength and conditioning programs for women's soccer, track & field, women's tennis, and swimming & diving.
Earlier in her career, Kelly served as a graduate assistant at the University of Louisiana - Monroe, working directly with women's basketball, women's soccer, and women's softball while assisting with football. She also completed internships at the University of Missouri and Murray State University.
A former collegiate goalkeeper, Kelly was a two-year letterwinner for the Murray State women's soccer program. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Murray State in 2013, then completed a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Louisiana - Monroe in 2015.
Kelly is an active member of the strength and conditioning profession and currently serves on the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) College Coaches Professional Development Group Committee. She holds the Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) credential through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, as well as the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS) certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Additionally, she maintains certifications through USA Track & Field (Level 1) and the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association - Strength & Conditioning (USTFCCCA).
She and her wife reside in Laurel, MD.
