Patrick Fischer joined the Maryland athletic department in September of 2004 as the Associate Director of Media Relations and Publications Coordinator and served in that role until December of 2014 when he was promoted to Director of Website Management.

In his current role as the Director of Website Management, Fischer serves as the managing editor and manages all digital website properties for the Maryland athletics department. Prior to transitioning to the digital communications area, Fischer spent 10 years in the media relations department, serving as the primary contact for the nationally-recognized Maryland men's lacrosse and women's soccer programs.

Before coming to College Park, Fischer worked as the Director of Publications for the Naval Academy Athletics Association - the US Naval Academy's athletic department - in Annapolis, Md. There Fischer was responsible for all aspects of the publications/printing process, including design of the overall look of projects, project management, adherence to timelines, pre-press production and proofing.

Fischer began his career in collegiate athletics at West Virginia University as the Assistant Sports Publications Director, serving as the in-house graphic designer, as well as the creative director for work sent to outside design firms and agencies.

Fischer earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Journalism from West Virginia University in 1996 and his Master's degree in Sports Management from West Virginia University in 1998.

Fischer is married to the former Cheryl Thompson. The couple has one son, Alex, and resides in Bel Air, Md.
