Sharon Staples is a self-motivated leader driven by her innovation and productivity. She takes pride in providing superlative tutorial support services, employee recruitment, campus collaboration, professional development training, assisting colleagues, and her interactions with our student-athletes and the GSAC Team. In addition to her primary job function of providing our student-athletes with exceptional academic support service, Staples has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to collaborate and develop stronger relationships across campus.
Staples Staples has been recognized by the University and the Athletic Department for the Maryland Impact Award. This award recognizes "a person or group who has contributed to intercollegiate athletics nationally in an impactful way. It honors those who strive to advance the student-athlete experience with the best attributes of higher education and athletics."
Staples has also been honored with the Employee of the Month award in March 2020. This award recognizes the “positive impact of our student-athletes with a new model academic support service” that continues growing to meet the needs of our student-athletes and the culture of the Athlete Department.
Today, Staples continues leading the development of the tutorial program and with a world to explore her passion. Upon the completion of student-athletes education and obtaining their degrees Staples feels eminence satisfaction of her contribution to their education and wishes them success with their future endeavors. As Staples stated herself, “It is a great honor to work with the University of Maryland, the Athlete Department and to work alongside my colleagues.”
