Cross Country Takes Maryland Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland's men's and women's cross country teams each took first place at the Maryland Invitational Saturday. The men's team swept the top three places to win 21-38. The women's team's score of 25 was good for first.
Sophomore Shawn Sullivan (Timonium, Md.) led the men with a time of 27:54.29, good for first place in the 8,000 meters. Freshman Zack Webb (Lansdale, Pa.) placed second with a time of 27:58.30, and freshman Greg Vincent (Timonium, Md.) finished third with a time of 28:17.43.
Freshman Kristin Lubas (York, Pa.) led the women with a time of 20:45.67, good for third place. Also faring well for the Terps was junior Eve Lerner (Roswell, Ga.), who placed fourth with a time of 20:53.84.
The Terps will be in action again next Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
