Postgame Quotes from Coach Ron Vanderlinden:
On Georgia Tech game: "I'm disappointed we didn't play better. We missed far too many tackles and gave up so many explosion plays. It was really disheartening. I believe in our defense and know that we're better than we performed [vs. Georgia Tech]. If we could have just kept the thing within reach it was a very winnable game for us."
On offensive output: "We took advantage of some of the over-aggressiveness of Georgia Tech. We missed on a couple of things that could have been touchdowns. The bottom line is we are up 17-14, we're in control of the game, and then we get a holding penalty on first down, get backed up, and then have an 8-yard punt, leading to a score. Darned if we don't give them the ball again and they score off another bad punt. We really blew an opportunity to be up 24-14. When you're playing a good team, you have to capitalize. You can't give them that many opportunities. Then late in the second half we're still going to make things interesting when we get an interception, but then we give the ball right back when the ball bounces off a wide receiver right into their hands."
On pressure from defensive front: "I thought our pressure [from the defensive front] was better vs. Georgia Tech. I think the big thing defensively was that we gave up far too many explosion plays, just huge hits down the field time after time."
On Terps' progress: "We're certainly an improving team, and I think we have big-play players. I think the play-calling has been good all season long. The play-calling is as good as the execution. I think we've mixed it up well all season long."
On Terps' offense: "Offensively we played well [vs. Georgia Tech].. I thought we moved the ball, but I also felt like we pressed some at the end and that cost us [with interceptions]. Overall, we played well. But we can execute a lot better, too."
