COLLEGE PARK, MD -- University of Maryland football and the Beautiful Lives Project teamed up for the second straight year for a special event that took place inside the Jones-Hill House indoor facility on Tuesday.
The Beautiful Lives Project gives people with disabilities the opportunity to actively participate in activities and events that may not have been available to them previously due to physical or facility limitations.
Approximately 125 adults and children with disabilities had the opportunity to play on the field with members of the Terrapin football team and coaching staff. Various stations were set up throughout the indoor field giving everyone an opportunity to learn about the game of football while also interacting with the team and having fun.
"It's a great experience, it's something we do every year that I'm grateful to be a part of," said All-Big Ten punter Bryce McFerson. "It's a lot of fun being able to make an impact on our community and get to meet and interact with a lot of these people. I believe it's important for any sporting team to be involved in their community ... to set an example but also to have as much of an impact as we can on the people around us, because it's more than football, its about human lives."
