CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Maryland's first-year head coach Shannon Higgins-Cirovski was named ACC Coach of the Year in her inaugural season at the helm in the conference at the ACC Awards Banquet Wednesday night. Higgins-Cirovski has taken the Terrapins to new heights in 1999 upsetting three conference opponents ranked in the top 10. She has led the Terps to their best ever finish in the ACC at 4-2-1 and a second place finish. Maryland had never finished higher than 3rd in 13 years of ACC play since 1987. The Terps enter the tournament winning six of their last seven games, including five by shutout.

Senior midfielder Emily Janss (Brandon, Fla.) earned All-ACC honors for the third time in as many years at Maryland, as she earned All-ACC first team honors this season after being honored on the second team as both a sophomore and junior. A three-time member of the Soccer America Team of the Week, Janss has six goals this season. She scored the game-winning goal in three of the Terps wins this season, including a pair of upsets over ACC ranked opponents, Clemson and Wake Forest. She is listed 10th among Maryland's all-time leaders in goals and points. She was named SoccerTimes.com National Player of the Week on Oct. 18 and ACC Player of the Week that same week.

Senior midfielder Jackie Mynarski (Somers, N.Y.) earned conference honors for the first time in her career as she was named to the second team. Maryland's fifth all-time leading goal scorer and seventh all-time in points, Mynarski has led the Terps in scoring throughout the season. She tallied eight goals and 18 points in the regular-season. She scored the game-winning goal in three consecutive wins in the Terps' recent five-game winning streak and tallied the game-winner to lift the Terps to the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament. She was named naled co-ACC Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 31.

The Terps open ACC Tournament play on Thursday, Nov. 4 as the No. 2 seed against No. 7 seed and 21st-ranked Duke at 3 p.m. at Fetzer Field on the campus of the University of North Carolina.
