
Perry Nominated for ACC Rookie Honor

Coming off the bench to score 27 points in 29 minutes Sunday afternoon to lead Maryland to its first ACC victory of the season, freshman Ginji Perry is the Terps' nomination for ACC Rookie of the Week accolades.
Perry shot 8 of 11 against the Seminoles including a pair of 3-pointers. She added five rebounds, three assists and four steals while helping Maryland to an 18-point, 94-76 victory.
Perry's play was most evident in the first half which saw her put up 17 points to match the Terps' highest single-half scoring output of the year. Seven of nine shooting at the break, Perry was responsible for all eight points and two steals during an 8-0 run that pushed Maryland's lead from eight to 16 points with 8:00 to go in the half. She began the run with a 3-pointer and capped it with one of her nine free throws 1 1/2 minutes later.
Maryland led 50-25 at the break, establishing the most points in an opening half for the Terps since 1992. The Terps' 94 points was its best in three seasons.
The All-Met Player of the Year in 1997 by the Washington Post, Perry's previous career-high was 10 points a week ago at North Carolina. She shot 71 percent for the week while scoring a pair of buckets in a loss to NC State. She played only eight minutes against the Wolfpack.
