Cross Country Teams Defeat Mount St. Mary's

EMMITSBURG, Md. - The men's and women's cross country teams won their first dual meet of the season with an impressive victory over a strong Mount St. Mary's team today.

The women's team used a sweep of the top three overall finishers to overtake the Mountaineers by a score of 17-46. The Terps were led by senior Aimee Phillippi (Waldorf, Md.) who took first place with a time of 19:47.8. Sophomore Kelly Crowley (Levittown, Penn.) finished second in 20:02.4. Sophomore Keri Seher (Farmingville, N.Y.) rounded out the top three with a time of 20:06.4.

On the men's side, senior Matt Green (Etna, N.H.) and junior Faisal Hasan (Columbia, Md.) led Maryland to a 26-33 victory. Green finished second overall with a time of 26:05.3. Hasan took third place in 26:31.9.

The victory was the second in a row for both the men and the women. Two weeks ago they swept the Maryland Invitational.
