Dr. Charles Wellford Elected President of the ACC for 1999-2000

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Dr. Charles F. Wellford, who is in his fourth year as the University of Maryland's faculty athletic representative, has been elected president of the Atlantic Coast Conference for the 1999-2000 academic year.
Wellford will assume his conference responsibilities July 1. He currently is acting associate provost and dean of the Office of Continuing Education at Maryland. He also serves as the director of the University of Maryland Center for Applied Policy Studies, the Maryland Justice Analysis Center and is a professor of criminology and criminal justice. Dr. Wellford also chairs the University of Maryland's athletic council.
