
Women's Basketball Adds Fourth Signee

COLLEGE PORK, Md. -Ijeoma Agba, a 6-0 forward from Rockville, Md., has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Maryland Head Coach Chris Weller announced today.
As a senior at Wheaton High School, Agba averaged 12.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game. Agba finished her career at Wheaton ranked first all-time in rebounds (710) and ninth in points (700). Academically, Agba was admitted to the Maryland Scholars Program with a 3.93 GPA.
"We are proud to add such an outstanding student-athlete to our roster," said Weller. "Ijeoma's dedication to excellence has been demonstrated in the classroom and on the court and she brings a tremendous intensity level to the game."
PREVIOUS SIGNEES
Ginji Perry, the Washington Post All-Met Player of the Year in 1996-97, averaged 17.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game as the guard led Elizabeth Seton to a 29-2 record and the area's No. 2 ranking. The 5-11 Hyattsville, Md., native was a two-time Washington Catholic Area conference selection.
Marche Strickland, a native of Kingston, Mass., led the state of Massachusetts in scoring in 1996 and 1997. The 5-9 guard averaged 31.0 points per game at Silver Lake High Scho ol and scored 1,350 points in two seasons.
Rosita Melbourne, a 6-3 forward, was a Nike All-America selection, All-Met Honorable Mention and a first-team All-Inner High member. The Washington, D.C., native played at H.D. Woodson High School and ranked 16th out of 450 players by The All-Star Girls Report.
