Mullens Elevated to Associate Athletic Director for Administration

Rob Mullens, who has served as University of Maryland's acting associate athletic director for administration since last May, has been named to the position on a permanent basis, director of athletics, Deborah Yow announced today.
Mullens joined the Terps' staff in the summer of 1996 as assistant athletic director for business. Since taking over as acting associate A.D. last spring, he supervised nine intercollegiate sports in addition to overseeing business, ticket, and facility operations, the strength and conditioning program, and the training room. In his new role, he will also serve as the department's chief financial officer and act as a liaison with football and men's basketball scheduling.
Mullens graduated cum laude in 1991 from West Virginia with a degree in business administration. He earned a master's degree in sport management at WVU in 1993. Prior to his appointment at Maryland, he was senior business manager and the chief budget officer at the University of Miami (Fla.) athletic department from 1994-96. Prior to pursuing a career in athletics, Mullens worked for the accounting firm Ernst & Young in Raleigh, N.C.
