COLLEGE PARK, Md. - University of Maryland women's basketball coach Chris Weller announced this afternoon the signing of Baltimore-area point guard Vicki Brick to a national letter of intent.
Brick, the Baltimore area player of the year last season as a junior, begins her senior campaign at McDonogh High School under coach Katie Keating.
"Signing Vicki Brick is a huge boost to our program because she is the consummate competitor. She is the most intense competitor that I've probably ever seen, and she'll bring that to our program. She will make everybody around her better because of her commitment to excellence.
"It's a big boost for our program also, that she is from the Baltimore area. We're really proud that we can keep bringing the best players in the state to Maryland and keep them close to home."
A 5-7 guard whose trademark is tenacity, Brick can play both guard positions. She played with the highly regarded Belles national AAU team that played in Europe and Russia last spring. She is the daughter of Victor and Lynne Brick who own and operate a chain of local fitness clubs.
