Erb Scores 23 to Lead Wolfpack Over Maryland Women

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Junior center Summer Erb scored 23 points on 11 of 16 shooting Thursday night to lead NC State to a 73-45 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over Maryland.
Erb, the ACC scoring and rebounding leader, poured in 18 points before intermission as the Wolfpack (9-6, 3-3 ACC) commanded a 48-32 lead.
Maryland (2-13, 0-6), played toe-to-toe with NC State before the Wolfpack's 12-1 run to end the first half staked the visitors to a 14-point margin. Erb scored six of during the stretch to thwart Maryland's bid for its first conference victory. The Terrapins cut an early 17-10 lead to a three-point margin at 20-17 with 5:25 remaining in the half, but never got closer.
The Wolfpack coasted through the second half to win their sixth game in seven tries. Tynesha Lewis added 18 points and eight rebounds, and Monica Bates scored 13 for the Wolfpack who shot 56 percent from the floor. The Terrapins, who shot just 36 percent, were led by 14 points from Kelley Gibson and 10 from Deedee Warley.
Maryland hosts Florida State on Sunday at 2 p.m. NC State hosts Duke in Raleigh in a nationally-televised (ESPN2) game beginning at 1 p.m.
