Women's Hoops Falls on the Road to N.C. State

RALEIGH, N.C. - Summer Erb and Tynesha Lewis led NC State with 21 points apiece as NC State rolled to an 86-53 win over Maryland.
Lewis grabbed 10 rebounds to post her sixth double-double of the season and Erb added seven caroms in 19 minutes of action. Freshman Kristen Greene came off the bench for the Wolfpack and scored a career-high 12 points. The rookie hit four of five field goal attempts, including two of two from behind the arc, and nailed both free throw attempts.
After Branka Bogunovic scored the game's first basket just five seconds after the opening tip, Maryland did not score another field goal until Cara Ferris' layup with 7:37 remaining in the first half. NC State (15-9, 8-6 ACC) jumped to a 12-2 lead and never looked back. Maryland shot just 23 percent with 10 turnovers in the opening period as the Wolfpack cruised to a 32-16 lead at the intermission. For the game, NC State shot 48 percent from the floor while holding the Terps to 32 percent. The Wolfpack also held a hefty advantage on the boards, 45-31.
Bogunovic and Kelley Gibson led Maryland (5-19, 2-12) with 14 points each. Gibson led the Terps with eight rebounds, and Ferris added a career-high 10 points.
"We just didn't look good out there tonight," said Maryland coach Chris Weller. "They just flat outplayed us."
