York Ousted at NCAA Wrestling Championships

State College, Pa.--Redshirt freshman Brandon York (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) was defeated in the first round of the NCAA Championships by Shawn Amistade, of Pittsburgh, 4-2, in the 133-pound division.
York, who won the ACC Championships on March 6, will continue in the consolation wrestlebacks on Friday morning. He received a bye in the opening consolation round that gives him the evening off. York will wrestle the winner of the Bob Patnesky-Bart Golyer match on Thursday night.
Patnesky, who is from West Virginia, lost by fall in 3:57 to Michgan's Joe Warren. Golyer lost a decision to Fresno State's Stan Greene, 10-6. Tomorrow's session is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
