Fitzgerald Named Assistant Strength And Conditioning Coach

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Craig Fitzgerald had been named the new Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Maryland. Fitzgerald and will assist with the daily management of the weight training facilities, preparation of training programs for several of the university's athletic teams, as well as instructing athletes in the proper execution of weight training exercises, plyometrics, agility drills, and flexibility training to name a few.
Fitzgerald is a 1996 graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in Government and Politics History and was a five-year member of the Terrapin football team (1992-96). A four-time ACC Honor Roll member, he was a three-year letterwinner and received the 1996 Student Athlete Service Award Recipient. In 1997, he became Director of Strength and Conditioning at the Catholic University of America. Fitzgerald was also Catholic's assistant football coach for the past two years, serving as the player recruiter, special teams coordinator, and tight-ends coach until his departure in the fall of 1999 to continue his education at Arizona State University.
While at Arizona State this past fall, he served as the Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach while taking courses in anatomy, physiology, motor learning and development to work towards his master's degree. A former intern in the Strength and Conditioning Department at Maryland, Fitzgerald returns to Maryland for the first time since the summer of 1998.
