COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- As Maryland ventures to Virginia this week to continue its 2000 college football schedule, LaMont Jordan sets his sights on another 100-yard rushing game --- against the team which, 10 months ago, was witness to the third-best rushing day in Atlantic Coast Conference history.
Jordan rambled for 306 yards on a career-high 37 carries last Nov. 20 to set a Maryland school record despite a last-minute home loss to the Virginia Cavaliers. This Saturday, with Jordan coming off his season-best 114-yard rushing effort against Florida State, Maryland travels to Scott Stadium to take on the Cavs in a noon kickoff which will be televised locally on HTS.
Jordan's Last Game
For the second straight game, Jordan turned in his "best" game of the season, this time against the defending national champion Florida State Seminoles. Jordan carried 17 times for 114 yards -- the highlight coming on a 74-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter.
Jordan's 74-yard scamper was the third-longest carry of his career, and helped him over the century mark for the first time this season and the 15th time in his career.
In his last two games against the Seminoles, Jordan has carried 44 times for 283 yards and a 6.4-yard average.
Jordan raised his career rushing touchdown total to 31. He is now tied for second in Terrapin history in rushing TDs and touchdowns overall, and is 14 touchdowns shy of breaking the Maryland career record in each category.
