Coach Vanderlinden on facing Clemson Saturday in Death Valley:
"We face another big challenge this week in facing the fifth-ranked team in the nation. In playing down there, it is sold out and it will be very loud as everyone knows. It will be a very challenging environment for our football team to go into."
Coach Vanderlinden on the Clemson offense:
"Offensively, in rushing they are fifth in the nation averaging over 300 yards per game which is challenging since no one has slowed them down. Clemson uses their four wide receiver offense and their quarterback, Woodrow Dantzler, is a tremendous running threat. They have you in a dilemma because they spread you out and if you don't defend them they can throw the ball and if you don't commit to stop the run, which you have to do, then they have real easy throws. It is a heck of a concept and Dantzler is expressing it very well."
Coach Vanderlinden on Clemson quarterback Woodrow Dantzler:
"Dantzler is really quick and elusive. He is fast, tough, durable and is just a terrific player. He reminds me of Darian Hagan when we were at Colorado. How about having your quarterback be number one in the conference in rushing and number two in passing efficiency. He is clearly the guy who makes things happen."
Coach Vanderlinden on the Tiger defense:
Once again this season as Clemson has done so often in the decade of the 1990's, they are third in the nation in total defense and 11th in the nation in scoring defense. On third down conversions, they lead the ACC both offensively and defensively. There are no weaknesses on this football team and not only are they strong in every area, they are amongst the nation's leaders."
Coach Vanderlinden on the injury status of LaMont Jordan:
"LaMont has a hip pointer but he should be okay. He is sore, but there is very little swelling and discoloration so I expect him to be fine by Saturday."
