RALEIGH, N.C. - Sophomore Mike Prada (Fulton, Md.) and senior Meghan White (Cockeysville, Md.) were the top finishers for the University of Maryland as the men's and women's cross country teams ran to a ninth place finish at the 47th annual Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship today.
The Terrapins were unable to improve upon ninth place finishes for both teams in 1999's ACC Championship meet. Duke took the men's title with a team score of 39, and NC State claimed first for the women with a score of 43. Duke's men had not won the championship since 1977, while NC State's victory gave the women their 18th ACC title.
White finished the 5,000 meter race in 20:18.0 to place 50th. Senior Keri Seher (Farmingville, N.Y.) was not too far behind White, placing 53rd in 20:21.8. North Carolina's Shalane Flanagan placed first, completing the course in 17:38.1.
