
Shawn Forte Named Terrapin Football MVP

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior free safety Shawn Forte, who led the Terps with four interceptions and finished fourth on the squad in tackles, was named the recipient of the Ray Krouse Memorial Award as the team's most valuable player Tuesday night.
Forte, who started all 11 games in 2000, recorded double figures in tackles in four games this past season, including 13 vs. Wake Forest and 12 vs. West Virginia. His four interceptions gave him nine for his career. Forte was also named the Terps' defensive MVP.
Senior tailback LaMont Jordan, who rushed for 920 yards and led the Terps in scoring with 66 points, was named Maryland's offensive MVP. Jordan became the school's all-time leading rusher during the season, finishing his four-year career with 4,147 yards. His total ranks third in ACC history.
