
Terps Men's Soccer Draws No. 6 Seed And Will Meet Duke In ACC First Round

College Park, Md. - The Maryland men's soccer team (10-8, 1-5 ACC) has received the No. 6 seed for the 2000 ACC Tournament, which begins this Thursday, Nov. 9. As the No. 6 seed, the Terps will face the No. 3 seed Duke Blue Devils. The tournament ie being held at Wake Forest University. Maryland and Duke have already met once this season, resulting in a 2-0 Duke victory at Ludwig Field on the Maryland campus. Gametime is 5:30 p.m., with the entire tournament being broadcast live on WMUC, the student station for the University of Maryland. The Terps in ACC First Round Games
Maryland brings an 8-11-1 overall ACC Tournament record into their Thursday contest with Duke. The Terps have won their first-round matchup three out of the past four years, downing NC State 7-0 in 1996, Clemson 4-2 in 1997, and North Carolina 2-0 in 1998. Last year, Maryland dropped a 2-0 decision to Virginia in the first round. Overall, Maryland is 5-8 in the first round of the ACC Tournament.
The Terps vs. Duke in the ACC Tourney
Maryland and Duke have met two previous times in the ACC Tournament, with each team winning one game. The first meeting on Nov. 4, 1993 at North Carolina, ended in a 3-2 Blue Devil victory. On Nov. 14, 1997, it was the Terps who were victorious by a 4-2 margin in the NCAA semifinals.
