Terp Golfers Take Fifth At Bradford Creek Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Maryland men's golf team took fifth place overall after two days of competition at East Carolina's Bradford Creek Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C. On Saturday at the 6,934-yard Bradford Creek course the Terps posted a second round score of 296 for a weekend total of 583 to finish seven over par. Senior linksman Gary Mankulish (Laurel, Md.) once again set the standard for the Terrapins, registering a second round one-under 71, ending the event in a four-way tie for second place with a 142. Virginia Commonwealth led both days and took the Bradford Creek title with a five-under 571 team total. Individually, Miami of Ohio's Mike Sabo was the intercollegiate's medallist with a two-day score of 141.
Senior Keith Unikel (Potomac, Md.) finished second for the Terps and tied for 17th overall, shooting a second day round of 74 for a 145 total. Terp freshman John Moheyer (Lima, Ohio) posted a second-round 74 to finish with a 147, while sophomores Phillip Fenstermaker (Rockville, Md.) and Corey Brigham (Rumson, N.J.) totalled weekend scores of 150 and 152, respectively.
The Terps return to action March 20-21 at the Cleveland Golf Collegiate Championships. That event will be hosted by South Carolina-Aiken.
