Downing, Hollenbach Earn Preseason Men's Soccer Honors

College Park, Md.- - Junior co-captains Nick Downing (Redmond, Wash.) and Beckett Hollenbach (Havertown, Pa.) have both been selected by College Soccer Online as preseason honorable mention All-Americas. No. 16 Maryland, ranked No. 16 begins training camp this week in College Park to prepare for the Maryland/FILA Preseason College Kick-off Tournament on Aug. 25 and 26, and the 2000 regular season, which kicks off on Sept. 1 and 3 at the Virginia/Coca-Cola Classic Tournament in Charlottesville.
Downing and Hollenbach are both two-year starters on Maryland's defense. Downing is serving his first year as team co-captain, while Hollenbach is in his second. Downing finished the 1999 season with six assists, including a three-assist performance against American in the Terps' 4-1 win and was a second-team All South Atlantic Region selection.
Hollenbach fought injury most of the season, but still earned second team All-ACC honors. The Pennsylvania native pitched in an assist for the Terps in their 2-0 win over NC State on Sept. 19 for his only points of the year. He has three goals and six assists for his career.
