Downing On Soccer America Second-Team All-American List

Charlottesville, Va. - Junior co-captain Nick Downing (Redmond, Wash.) has been named to Soccer America's preseason All-American list. Downing was a second team selection by the weekly soccer publication. Previously this preseason, he was also placed on College Soccer Online's All-American list, as well as being a finalist for the Hermann Trophy, given annually to the nation's top collegiate soccer player.
No. 16 Maryland starts their regular season tonight against Jacksonville. The Terps open the Virginia/Coca-Cola Classic at 5 p.m. against the Dolphins, with host Virginia taking on South Florida in the second game of the doubleheader at 7:30 p.m. The Terps continue tournament action on Sunday, Sept. 3, against South Florida. That game starts at noon.
The Maryland men's soccer team has their home opener against two-time defending national champion Indiana on Friday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 p.m. No. 10 Virginia and South Carolina open the Maryland/FILA Classic earlier that evening at 5 p.m. Maryland/FILA Classic tournament action will wrap-up on Sept. 10 with Virginia taking on Indiana at noon and Maryland meeting South Carolina at 2:30 p.m.
