College Park, Md.- Maryland head coach Ron Vanderlinden held his weekly press conference today as the Terps prepare for Saturday's game against Middle Tennessee State.
Coach Vanderlinden on Saturday's Middle Tennessee State game:
"The coaches at Middle Tennessee State have done a nice job there. They lost to Illinois and Florida, both of which are undefeated."
Coach Vanderlinden on the Middle Tennessee State offense:
"Middle Tennessee State runs the Clemson attack. They want to spread you out to run it and throw it. I have a lot of respect for what I have seen on tape. This is a good football team."
Coach Vanderlinden's goals for the Middle Tennessee State game:
"Our number one goal is to win the football game. We also need to get our run game going so I hope we can improve our run offense."
Coach Vanderlinden on the play of his quarterbacks and their playing status:
"I thought Calvin played his best game at Maryland last week at West Virginia. Shaun Hill is still day-to-day so Latrez Harrison will be the number one backup going into Saturday's game."
Coach Vanderlinden on the play of tight end Jeff Dugan:
"I think Jeff is the prototype tight end that we are looking for. He is big and physical and has been our most consistent blocker up front. As a redshirt freshman, he will only get better. I think he has the potential to become one of the great tight ends in the country."
Coach Vanderlinden on the play of LaMont Jordan last week:
"I thought LaMont played well and ran hard. When he got through the first wave, he broke some tackles and was really tough to deal with."
Coach Vanderlinden on LaMont Jordan on his start to the 2000 season:
"I think LaMont is one of the top running backs in the country, if not the top back in the country. Last year LaMont got off to a slow start and then in the last six games of the year he led the nation in rushing."
