
Terp Women Place First At Maryland Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Junior Meghan White (Cockeysville, Md.) led the University of Maryland women's cross country team to a 23-point strong home victory at the Maryland Invitational today. White finished the women's 5K in second place with a time of 19:34.80 behind unattached runner Sascha Scott who won with a time of 19:29.60.
The Terp women finished with six runners in the top ten places. Kelly Crowley (Levittown, Pa.) finished in third place with a time of 19:40.40, followed by Keri Seher (Farmingville, N.Y.) in sixth place, Monique Berry (Andover, Conn.) in ninth place and Kristin Lubas (York, Pa.) in 10th place.
In the men's 8K race, Maryland placed fifth. Sophomore Mike Prada (Fulton Md.) led the way for the Terrapins once again, finishing in 10th place with a time of 27:16.70. Freshman Francis Ciganek (Chestertown, Md.) was not far behind, finishing with a time of 27:25.50 to earn 13th place. Penn State was victorious in the men's race, led by John McGrorey and Jim Enwright who finished in first and second place, respectively, with times of 26:15.70 and 26:20.60
The Terrapins will have next week off to rest and then head to Bethleham, Pa. for the Paul Short Invitational on October 7. That meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
