Jordan, the nation's leading active career rusher, will make his first campaign stop on the home turf just miles from his hometown of Forestville, Md. The senior tailback has rushed for 100 yards or more in eight consecutive games at Maryland's Byrd Stadium, and he needs just 91 yards this Saturday to become the Terps' all-time rushing leader. Jordan enters his final college season with 3,227 rushing yards. Former Terp Charlie Wysocki (1978-91) holds the current school record with 3,317 yards.
Jordan was a unanimous selection for preseason first team All-America honors this past summer. Just days before the start of his final college season, the school's athletic department has launched the LaMontJordan2000.com website which will chronicle LJ's 2000 season from start to finish.
Features on the LaMontJordan2000 website include current audio and video files, up-to-date media information with current statistics, notes and rankings, a weekly Jordan diary, announcements about upcoming chat opportunities, desktop wallpaper, and news clippings from around the country.
