COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Four University of Maryland football players will take part in postseason all-star bowl games this Saturday in hopes of impressing scouts from the National Football League. Former Terrapins LaMont Jordan (TB), Kris Jenkins (DT), Shawn Forte (FS) and Matt Kalapinski (FB) will all be playing with those hopes in mind.
Jordan and Jenkins will each be in Mobile, Ala., at the Senior Bowl which will air on ESPN at 2:00 p.m. EST on Saturday. Jordan is the Terps' all-time leading rusher while Jenkins had a breakout senior year in 2000 that saw him lead the team in sacks and tackles for loss while earning All-ACC honors.
The Hula Bowl will also air on ESPN later in the day (8:00 p.m. EST) and that game will feature the other two Terps, Forte and Kalapinski. Forte was named Maryland's team MVP for his play in 2000, while Kalapinski is credited for paving the way for Jordan in his four record-breaking seasons.
