Oct. 23, 2001

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland men's soccer midfielder Scott Buete (Bowie, Md.) was recently selected to the Soccer America team of the week as well as receiving co-ACC player of the week honors. The redshirt-sophomore scored the Terps' game-winning goal to upset then-No. 11 South Carolina at the Gamecock Soccer Classic over the weekend.

One of Maryland's co-captain's this season, he is currently the Terps' third leading scorer with two goals and four assists (eight points). Buete is coming off a redshirt year after sustaining a break in the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot.

The Terrapins head to Clemson, S.C., this weekend to take on the Tigers at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28 at Riggs Field. For Maryland, it will be the first ACC match since traveling to North Carolina on Oct. 7. The Terps are 7-5-1 overall, and are still looking for their first ACC win with a 0-2-1 record.
