BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Maryland men's cross country team placed 19th out of 31 teams at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University Saturday with a team score of 505. Penn State won the 8,000 -meter race with a score of 66, followed by second place Bucknell (135) and third place West Virginia (138).
Junior Mike Prada (Fulton, Md.) finished his third meet this season as the Terrapins' top runner in 46th place with a time of 25:47.53. Sophomore Francis Ciganek (Chestertown, Md.) completed the race in 25:57.12.
In the women's 6,000-meter race, junior Kristin Lubas (York, Pa.) led the Maryland women's team to a 23rd place finish out of 39 teams. Lubas finished the course in 23:08.08. Penn State also took first place in the women's race with a final score of 109. Bucknell placed second with a score of 123, followed by third-place Moravian with a 135 total. All of Penn State's runners, men and women, finished within the top-50 runners.
Maryland's only home meet of the season is Saturday, Oct. 13. The course is located at the University of Maryland Golf Course.
