COLLEGE PARK, Md. Senior kinesiology major Shaun Hill (Parsons, Kan.) and senior communication major Dina Rizzo (Walpole, Mass.) have been named the Maryland Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances on the field the week of Oct. 1 - Oct. 7.
Hill orchestrated the Maryland offense to 41 points as the football squad improved to 5-0 with a 41-21 win over Virginia. Hill, who helped break a ten-year winless streak against the Cavaliers, was 22-35 for 237 yards and rushed for 47 yards as the Terps continued their winning ways. Hill rushed for one touchdown and threw for two others including a 53-yard touchdown pass to Guilian Gary. Hill was one of three Terrapins to win ACC player of the week honors as the No. 20 ranked Terps head into a showdown against Georgia Tech Thursday night on ESPN.
Rizzo, a two-time all-region selection, helped the top ranked Terps beat Duke and Rutgers. Rizzo, who had an exceptional game at midfield in the teams dominating 10-0 win over Rutgers, recorded her first ever hat trick in the 6-5 overtime win against No.13 Duke. The senior midfielder had career-highs of three goals and six points including the game winner 40 seconds into overtime. Rizzo helped the No. 1 Terrapins to improve to 10-2 overall and 2-1 in the ACC.
