
Henderson Named ACC Player Of Week For 4th Time This Season

ACC Players of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office:
OFFENSIVE BACK - Joe Burns, RB, Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech's Joe Burns, a 5-10, 210-pound junior from Thomasville,
Ga., rushed for a career-high 198 yards on 34 carries and scored a
touchdown to lead Georgia Tech to a victory over North Carolina last
Thursday night. Burns' performance was the best by a Yellow Jacket since
1994 and the ninth-best ever and marked the highest total for a back
against UNC's defense since 1982.
OFFENSIVE LINEMAN - Mike Hart, TE, Duke
Duke's Mike Hart, a 6-6, 245-pound senior from Sayville, N.Y., had a
career-high 10 receptions for 165 yards and two touchdowns in the Blue
Devils' 55-31 loss to NC State Saturday. Hart's two touchdowns covered
four and 31 yards. Hart extended his string of consecutive games with at
least one pass reception to 21 straight.
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN - E.J. Henderson, LB, Maryland
Maryland's E.J. Henderson, a 6-2, 243-pound linebacker from Aberdeen,
Md., had a huge day in the Terps' 47-14 victory over Troy State.
Henderson recorded 10 tackles, including two for loss, had one sack, one
pass break-up, one forced fumble and a blocked punt setting up a
Maryland touchdown.
DEFENSIVE BACK - Chris Hope, FS, Florida State
Florida State's Chris Hope, a 6-0, 208-pound senior from Rock Hill,
S.C., totaled a career-high 12 tackles, including seven solo efforts in
the Seminoles' 41-27 win over 24th-ranked Clemson. Hope led the team
with three third-down stops and three knock down blocks. Hope is
currently fourth on the team with 56 tackles.
SPECIALIST -- Kelley Rhino, PR, Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech's Kelley Rhino, a 5-7, 179-pound junior from Smyrna, Ga.
returned four punts for an ACC-season high 111 yards in last Thursday's
28-21 win over North Carolina. Three of Rhino's returns set up Yellow
Jacklet touchdowns. Rhino's 50-yard return in the first-half was a
career-long run and the longest punt return for Tech since 1998. Rhino
also had returns of 21 and 34 yards and recorded one special teams
tackle. Rhino raised his season total to 446 punt return yards, breaking
the Tech season record set by his father, all-America Randy Rhino.
ROOKIE - Chris Rix, QB, Florida State
Chris Rix a 6-4, 215-pound freshman from Santa Margarita, Calif., threw
for a career-high 369 yards on 19 completions in a 41-27 win over
Clemson. Rix averaged 19.4 yards per completion and had four touchdown
passes (47, 31, 28, 4). He also rushed for 47 yards. Rix currently
ranks sixth in the nation is passing efficiency and is only 16 yards shy
of becoming only the third freshman in ACC history to throw for 2,000
yards or more in a season.
