Fast Fact of the Day: The team that has won the Orange Bowl each of the last two years (Michigan in 2000 and Oklahoma in 2001) stayed at the Fontainebleau Hotel, where the Terps are staying in 2002.

Day Two of the Terps' trip to the Orange Bowl began with wake-up calls at 7:30 a.m.

After breakfast at the hotel the team once again broke up for positional meetings at the Fontainebleau.

The scout team headed off to practice at Barry first leaving around 8:30, followed by the regular squad.

Practice got underway around 9:45 p.m. and this time the weather was far more delightful than the Terps' first day in Miami. The sun was shining and the wind had stopped. It was nearly 70 degrees by the time practice was underway and with the sun it felt like the mid-70s.

Now that's more like Miami!

The Terps practiced in full pads for approximately two hours and 15 minutes this morning at Buccaneer Field following the first practice in shorts and shoulder pads on a chilly Wednesday.

Here's an injury update from practice: Junior offensive guard Todd Wike suffered a right foot contusion after being stepped on for the second consecutive day at practice. He is day-to-day.

Head coach Ralph Friedgen said that Tony Jackson was 80 percent as he continues to return from a left ankle injury suffered last week.

Sophomore guard Ed Tyler was kept out of practice because of the flu.

Among the visitors to practice on Thursday was former Terp Donald Brown, who was a member of the 1983, 84 and 85 ACC Championship teams. Brown also went on to play in the NFL with the Dolphins, Chargers and Giants.

He shared a few laughs with coaches Rod Sharpless and Dave Sollazzo, who were at Maryland during his playing days.

Following the practice the Terps were met by the media. About 20 reporters and photographers were out to see the team.

Shaun Hill was the most popular interview request and spent about 10 minutes with the media.

Rene Knott of Channel 7 back home was also in town to speak with several defensive players about the team's success this season. Among the players he spoke with were Leon Joe, E.J. Henderson and Charles Hill along with Sollazzo.

Coach Friedgen spent about 15 minutes answering questions from the outlets including several from the Miami area.

Once the interviews were complete it was time for lunch.

The team was treated to a cookout near the field that featured steak, chicken, shrimp and potatoes. The players enjoyed themselves although the lineup for the steak and shrimp was constant.

Following lunch the team returned to the Fontainebleau.

Beginning at 2 p.m., three different weight training sessions were held beginning with the offense, followed by the defense at 3 p.m. and the scout team at 4 p.m.

The players also checked out the beach and pools at the hotel.

At 6 p.m. it was off to Smith & Wollensky's Steak House for a grand dinner.
