SASHO CIROVSKI- CAMP DIRECTOR
The camp has been designed to meet the special needs of each individual player based on age and ability. Sasho Cirovski's MARYLAND SOCCER CAMP for Boys is based on a simple coaching principle: young people learn and develop skills most quickly and effectively when they are having fun. Our main objective is to teach each player how to fully reach his potential as a soccer player. We have designed our learning exercises and functional training games to teach individual techniques, skills and tactics through creative and motivating sessions. All of this will be achieved in an environment of positive reinforcement and communication designed to enrich each individuals total soccer experience. All work at the camp will be conducted in relationship to the ball. Each player will develop a better appreciation of how to run, play and think as a total soccer player. The Maryland men's soccer program has not only come of age in the last decade, but has developed into one of the most dominant forces in college soccer today. Overall, Maryland has a 111-53-7 record over the past eight seasons, while consistently playing one of the toughest schedules in the country. In 2000, the Terps were bitten by the injury bug and narrowly missed out on their seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. Despite having seven players miss the entire season, the Terrapins compiled a 10-9 record, which included three heart breaking overtime losses. Maryland senior forward Jason Sardis finished his career at 4th on the career assists list. Abe Thompson led the Terps in scoring as a freshman with 13 goals and 5 assists. Junior captain Nick Downing was on the final ballot for both the Missouri Athletic Club's Collegiate Player of the Year and the Herman Trophy. Downing was also named to Soccer America's Team
of the Week as well as being named to the All-Tournament Team at both the Virginia Classic and the FILA/Maryland Classics Soccer tournaments. Midfielder Rob Birch earned 2nd-team All-ACC after a tremendous senior year that also included being named to the FILA/Maryland Classic All-Tournament
Team and an invitation to play in the Collegiate Senior All-State game. The Terps had three players named to the NSCAA All-South Atlantic teams for their efforts this past season - Nick
Downing (1st team), Abe Thompson (2nd team), and Rob Birch (3rd team).
The success of the Maryland Terrapins is a direct reflection of the philosophy and principles of Head Coach Sasho Cirovski. As a regional and national staff coach, Sasho has been instrumental in helping players of all calibers become better soccer players and better people. It is this expertise and passion for the game that has driven Coach Cirovski throughout his career. Director the morning skill sessions and the afternoon small group tactics into the competitive full field evening games. You will play on the same fields that the University of Maryland Men's soccer team utilizes.
