
Maryland Alum Mynarski Selected by WUSA's Washington Freedom

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Former Maryland women's soccer star Jackie Mynarski (Somers, N.Y.) was selected in the 2001 WUSA Supplemental Draft completed this past weekend.
Mynarski was taken in the fourth round and 32nd overall by the Washington Freedom. She joins Maryland's all-time leading scorer Keri Sarver on the Freedom's roster.
Mynarski (1996-99) had a decorated career at Maryland earning NSCAA All Mid-Atlantic first team, Soccer Buzz All Mid-Atlantic first team, All-ACC second team and ACC All-Tournament honors in 1999.
The senior midfielder led the Terps in scoring throughout the 1999 season, finishing with a team-high 11 goals and 24 points. She finished as the sixth all-time leading scorer with 58 points and fifth-greatest goal scorer with 24. Mynarski also ranks 10th career in assists with 10.
Mynarski's classmate and fellow all-region selection, Emily Janss is also playing in the WUSA as a member of the New York Power.
Mynarski played for the W-League's Maryland Pride during the past season.
The Freedom's season opens on April 14, 2001 as it hosts the Bay Area CyberRays at RFK Stadium at 2 p.m. The game will be televised live on TNT.
