HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -
University of Maryland finished fourth as a team and freshman Tim Kane finished tied for sixth individually at the Birkdale Collegiate tournament as brutally cold temperatures and stiff winds forced the cancellation of Tuesday's final round.
Final team and individual standings were based on Monday's 36-hole results.
The Terps' 36-hole total of 598 was 10 shots out of third place and 25 shots out of first place. East Tennessee State captured the team title with a score of 573.
Maryland had three golfers among the top 25 individuals, including junior Corey Brigham (148), who shot a 69 on his first 18 and finished in a tie for 14th place, and sophomore John Moheyer, who finished in a tie for 22nd (149). Kane shot a two-over 146 to finish five shots out of first place. Kane's previous best finish was a tie for 24th in the final fall event of 2000.
