COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Three Maryland football players who completed their collegiate eligibility in 2000 -- safety Shawn Forte, tailback Mukala Sikyala, Jr., and fullback Matt Kalapinski -- have signed free agent contracts with National Football League teams.
Forte and Kalapinski both signed with the Miami Dolphins, Sikyala with the San Diego Chargers.
Last Saturday, two Terps were selected in the NFL draft -- defensive lineman Kris Jenkins, who was taken by the Carolina Panthers, and tailback LaMont Jordan, who was chosen by the New York Jets. Both were taken in the second round.
