COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland football and basketball play-by-play announcer Johnny Holliday will take on what Terp fans might think is a different role during the 2001 fall Homecoming festivities.
After calling the Terrapins' grid matchup with Duke on Oct. 20, Holliday will race across the street to the new 318,000-square-foot Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, to play the lead in Music Man. The musical theater production is presented by the departments of Dance and Theatre and the School of Music.
Meredith Wilson's play will not be the first starring role for the "Voice of the Terps," who regularly performs in such productions at Toby's Dinner Theater in Columbia, Md. The University of Maryland Marching Band will also be featured in Music Man.
