* This year's preview will be held at a brand new course at Clemson in Clemson, S.C. It is located behind the Jervey Athletic Center. Collegiate races will commence the event, followed by high school races, with over forty schools participating.
* The collegiate men will be running an 8,000 meter course beginning at 8:45 a.m, while the women will run a 5,000 meter course at 9:30 a.m.
* At last year's preview, the Maryland men finished sixth while the women finished seventh.
Navy Invitational Recap
* The Maryland men's and women's cross country teams both finished fifth at the Navy Invitational to kick off the 2001 season.
* The Terrapin men were led by sophomore Mike Prada (Fulton, Md.), who finished in 8 the 8,000 meter race in eighth place overall with a time of 25:53.30
* Junior Kristin Lubas (York, Pa.) finished in tenth place as the women's leader in the 5,000 meter race in 19:54.65.
* Teams from Navy placed first in both the men's and women's races.
SHOWING IMPROVEMENT
* Both the men's and women's teams had runners best their 2000 Navy Invitational times this year.
* For the men, junior Mike Prada improved his 2000 time of 26:02.00 by 9.7 seconds and sophomore Francis Ciganek lowered his time from 27:03.00 to 26:37.70.
* Three women improved their times by at least a minute, including junior Kristin Lubas and seniors Monique Berry and Marjorie Bollinger.
COACH TRENT SANDERSON: THE FACTS
* 2001 marks the inaugural season for Maryland cross country coach Trent Sanderson.
* Sanderson most recently worked as an assistant with the Florida State track and field program. While at FSU, one of his athletes placed third in the 400 meters at the national indoor meet and set a national record for the event in Zimbabwe.
* In 1995, Sanderson earned a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology from the University of New Orleans.
