
Terps Jump In Polls: Men's Soccer Moves To No. 5 In NSCAA Poll

College Park, Md. - After upsetting No. 7 UCLA 2-1 in overtime and beating Liberty 2-1 to win the Virginia Soccer Classic, Maryland took a huge jump in the polls. Previously unranked, the Terps shot all the way up to No. 5 in the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America (NSCAA) poll for their biggest jump of the week. The Terps also moved up seven spots in the Soccer America poll, landing at No. 8 this week. In the College Soccer Online media poll, the Terps' jumped from receiving votes to No.11. In College Soccer News' poll, also released Sept. 3, Maryland jumped from No. 27 to No. 18.
Maryland opens its home schedule with 2000 College Cup finalist Creighton at the Maryland/FILA Classic on Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and continues against American on Sept. 9 at 2:30 p.m. The Terp women's soccer team will follow at 5 p.m. against East Carolina, also on Ludwig Field.
