
Football Award Winners Announced At 2001 Banquet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland officially brought its magical 2001 season to a close today with its annual banquet which was held at the University Inn & Conference Center. At the banquet, team award winners were announced to the sold-out crowd.
Amongst the winners this year were team and defensive most valuable player, junior LB E.J. Henderson, who also claimed the same awards from the Atlantic Coast Conference. Senior QB Shaun Hill was named the Terps' offensive most valuable player while junior P Brooks Barnard was named the team's top specialist.
The Terrapins, who will return eight offensive and six defensive starters from this year's Atlantic Coast Conference championship team, had the school's first 10-win season in over 20 years and made the school's first-ever Bowl Championship Series appearance.

James M. Tatum Award (Lineman of the Year) -- Charles Hill, DT
George C. Cook Memorial Award (Senior with the Highest Academic Average) -- Charles Hill, DT
George Boutselis Memorial Award (Letterman with the Highest Academic Average) -- Todd Wike, OG
Alvin L. Aubinoe Award (Unsung Hero) -- Rod Littles, S
Dr. John E. Faber Award (Iron Man) -- Durrand Roundtree, DE
Defensive Scout Team Player(s) of the Year -- Ricardo Dickerson, LB and Madieu Williams, S
Offensive Scout Team Player(s) of the Year -- Mario Merrills, RB
