232 Terp Student-Athletes Named To University Honor Roll

A total of 232 University of Maryland student-athletes representing every varsity sport have earned inclusion on the fall semester University Honor Roll for achieving a minimum 3.0 grade point average, director of athletics Deborah A. Yow announced today.
Two sports which claimed ACC championships this past fall - football and field hockey - had significant numbers of honorees. The football team, which went 10-2 and finished the season ranked 10th nationally in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll, had 18 honorees. The field hockey team, which reached the NCAA title game this past November, totaled 12 honorees.
Of Maryland's 21 sports (the totals for track and field include indoor and outdoor track as well as cross country), 13 reached double figures in number of student-athletes named to the University Honor Roll. The total of 231 student-athletes is nearly 40 percent of the entire student-athlete population at the university.
