
Allen, Henderson Earn ACC Weekly Grid Honors

A pair of Maryland Terrapins -- freshman tailback Josh Allen and senior linebacker E.J. Henderson -- have been named ACC Players of the Week for their efforts in the Terps' 48-17 non-conference victory at West Virginia last Saturday.
Following are this week's ACC honorees:
OFFENSIVE BACK
North Carolina's sophomore quarterback Darian Durant was 25 of 40 for 417 yards and five touchdowns in the 38-35 win over Arizona State. Durant set or
tied several school records in the victory. He established the UNC single-game record for most passing yards (417) and total offense (426) and tied the
school record with five TD passes. Durant broke Chris Keldorf's single-game record for passing yards by two yards. Keldorf had 415 yards passing in a
win over TCU in 1996. Durant's 426 total yards of offense (417 passing, nine rushing) broke Mark Maye's mark of 420 yards vs. Georgia Tech in 1997.
OFFENSIVE LINE
In its win over Georgia Tech, Wake Forest played 92 offensive snaps for the second week in a row, the most in a game since 1995. Offensive guard
Tyson Clabo was on the field for all of those snaps, grading out at a team-best 92 percent and recording 15 knockdowns. Normally Wake's starting left
guard, Clabo had to switch between both guard positions for the first time in his career during Saturday's game r. He led an offensive line which helped
Deacon running backs total 209 rushing yards and allowed no sacks on the quarterbacks.
DEFENSIVE LINE
Maryland's senior inside linebacker, E.J. Henderson registered a team-high 15 total tackles (14 solos, one assist)against West Virginia. Henderson was in
on 2 sacks and 3 tackles behind the line of scrimmage (minus 10 yards). He also helped shut down the nation's No. 2 rushing offense, holding WVU 159
yards under its season average. The Terps had eight sacks and 11 TFLs in the game to bottle up the Mountaineer offense. On the season, Henderson is
averaging 12.2 tackles per game
DEFENSIVE BACK
Jerton Evans, a senior safety, made a season-high 12 tackles in Virginia's win at Duke. Eight of his twelve tackles were solo stops. Evans also broke up a
pass and had a tackle for loss of three yards on third down for the day.
SPECIALIST
Florida State's Leon Washington, a freshman tailback/returner, scored his second special teams TD of the year on a 97-yard kickoff return. His
touchdown gave FSU a 21-17 lead in the second quarter. It was FSU's first KO return for a TD since 1998 and tied for the fourth longest in school history.
Washington also forced a fumble on punt coverage in the third quarter. The Seminoles recovered the fumble at the Clemson 11 and kicked a FG to take a
38-31 lead. He leads the ACC (18th nationally) in punt return average at 15.2 yards per return.
ROOKIE
Josh Allen, a freshman tailback for Maryland, rushed for a career-high 116 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Terrapin victory. He is the first freshman at
Maryland to rush for more than 100 yards since 1998. He had a 70-yard touchdown run in the first quarter giving Maryland a 14-0 lead. On the day he
averaged 7.2 yards per carry. He also had one reception for five yards.
