As of Oct. 1, the Maryland women's cross country team has cracked the list of the top ten Division I programs in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This comes after several impressive finishes by the team, including a first place at the Covered Bridge Open and a second place showing at the Navy Invitational. By besting several of the region's high-ranking teams, the Terps have proven that they are indeed a force to contend with.
The NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Region women's cross country rankings is as follows:
1. Georgetown- 75 votes (5 of 5 first place votes)
2. Villanova- 69
3. Penn State- 66
4. West Virginia- 60
5. Princeton- 55
6. LaSalle- 50
7. Navy & Bucknell- 41 (tie)
9. Maryland- 35
10. Pennsylvania- 33
11. St. Joseph's- 27
12. Pittsburgh- 18
13. American- 16
14. Rutgers- 8
15. Duquesne- 7
Also receiving votes: St. Francis (Pa.)
The next poll will be released Tuesday, Oct. 8. Look for the Terps' finish at the Indiana State Invitational to be reflected in the rankings.
