
Henderson Named Finalist for Bronko Nagurski Trophy

The Charlotte Touchdown Club and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) today announced the five finalists for the 2002 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, presented annually to college's best all-around defensive football player.
Candidates for this year's award, which will be presented at a December 9th banquet in Charlotte, N.C. are:
E.J. Henderson, University of Maryland, Linebacker
Terrence Newman, Kansas State University, Defensive Back
Terrell Suggs, Arizona State University, Defensive End
David Pollack, University of Georgia, Defensive End
Shane Walton, University of Notre Dame, Defensive Back
The (FWAA) and the Charlotte Touchdown Club selected a national Player of the Week each week throughout college's regular football season. The organizations will name the winner and present the trophy at the annual gala, held at the Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown Charlotte, N.C. Dec. 9. The banquet will feature keynote speaker Coach Larry Coker of the University of Miami and master of ceremonies Al Bernstein of ESPN. Tickets are available by calling 704-347-2918. Individual tickets are $175 and tables of 10 can be purchased for $1,750.
The FWAA is an 800-member association of football writers from across the country.
The Charlotte Touchdown Club is a non-profit organization based in Charlotte, N.C., which raises funds for high school and college scholarships for student athletes participating in their school's football programs. The Charlotte Touchdown Club, with the help of the FWAA, each year presents the national Bronko Nagurski Trophy, named after Hall of Famer and University of Minnesota and Chicago Bear star Bronko Nagurski, to the nation's best all-around defensive college football player.
