* The University of Maryland football team improved to 10-3 overall and 6-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with this afternoon's 32-14 win over Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons fall to 6-6 (3-5 ACC). The Terrapins finished the season having won nine of their last 10 games and have been selected to participate in this year's Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl (December 31, 2002 * Atlanta, Ga.).

* Maryland now has a 37-13-1 record in the all-time series with the Demon Deacons.

* With today's win, Maryland has now posted consecutive back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time in its history. Should the Terps win their bowl game, they will have won 11 games for just the second time in school history.

* Ralph Friedgen now has a 20-5 record in two years at Maryland and a 13-1 record at Byrd Stadium. With his 20th win today, he has now won more games in his first two years than any coach in ACC history, surpassing the total of 19 compiled by Clemson's Ken Hatfield in his first two seasons (1990-91).

* The 32 points the Terps scored today gives them 421 for the season, breaking the school record of 390, set last season.

* With three shutout quarters today, the Terrapin defense has now held the opposition scoreless in 27 quarters this season. Maryland entered today's game holding its opponents to the third-most scoreless quarters among Division I-A teams.

* Scott McBrien registered a new career high with 17 completions in 27 attempts for 275 yards and two touchdowns and also added 42 yards rushing on the afternoon. McBrien was on fire in the first half, completing 15-of-20 passes for 257 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

* Randy Starks got a hand on two passes in the first quarter and both resulted in an interception. The first was picked off -- and later turned over -- by E.J. Henderson while the second was intercepted by Dennard Wilson, his first of the season and second of his career. Starks has now posted seven pass break ups this season.

* Chris Downs' 38-yard touchdown recpetion in the second quarter gives the senior running back 15 for the season. The total puts him sixth in Maryland single-season history. Downs also moved up to the sixth spot in the Maryland single-season career rushing total with 1,113 yards after his 78-yard performance today.

* FB James Lynch's second-quarter touchdown was his first this season and third rushing TD of his career. Rich Parson's 11-yard TD reception toward the end of the second quarter was his first career touchdown.

* The Terrapins finished their season having won nine of their final 10 games.

* Nick Novak kicked three field goals today (36, 38, 28) giving him 21, a new single-season Maryland record. He finished the regular season with 113 points, breaking LaMont Jordan's mark of 102 set in 1999 for the most in a single-season in Maryand history and also set the school record for PATs in a season (50).

* E.J. Henderson's first quarter interception -- though he ultimately fumbled, giving the ball back to Wake -- was his second this season and the third of his career.

* Today's attendance was 39,006. Maryland's seven-game home attendance total this season finishes at 323,698, a new single-season record. The previous season-high total was 304,953 set in 1983.
