3 Terps Named ACC Players Of The Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Three Maryland Terrapins -- center Todd Wike, linebacker E.J. Henderson and kicker Nick Novak -- earned ACC Player of the Week honors for their efforts in Maryland's 32-14 win over Wake Forest last Saturday.
A look a this past week's honorees:
Offensive Back - Chris Rix, Florida State, 6-4, 210, So., Santa Margarita, Calif.
Rix made his return as Florida State's starting quarterback a successful one, completing 13 of 29 passes for 194 yards
and two touchdowns as the Seminoles knocked off 11th-ranked Florida 31-14. Rix, making his first start in five games,
ran for a career-high 83 yards on 14 carries and teamed with wide receiver Anquan Boldin on scoring strikes of 22 and
19 yards.
Offensive Line -Todd Wike, Maryland, 6-6, 303, Sr., C, Lebanon, Pa.
Wike earned the highest grade among Terps' offensive linemen in the Terps' 32-14 victory over Wake Forest Saturday.
Wike had a team-high and season-best nine "big blocks" as Maryland's offense rolled up 533 yards of total offense while
averaging 6.7 yards per play.
Defensive Line - E.J. Henderson, Maryland, 6-2, 250, Sr., LB, Aberdeen, Md.
Henderson played a key role in the Terps' 32-14 win over Wake Forest Saturday. Named to the Football Writers 2002
All-America team this afternoon, Henderson was all over the field in registering a game-high 19 tackles, including 16 solo
stops. In addition, Henderson had an interception and was credited with a safety on the final defensive play of his
career in Byrd Stadium.
Defensive Back - Kendyll Pope, Florida State, 6-2, 220, Jr., Fort White, Fla.
Pope played a key role in Florida State's 31-14 win over No. 11 Florida Saturday. The junior linebacker led the
Seminole defense with 12 total tackles and returned an interception 13 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to give
FSU a 24-6 lead.
Specialist - Nick Novak, Maryland, PK, 6-0, 189, So., Charlottesville, Va.
Novak made good on all three field goal attempts in Maryland's 32-14 win over Wake Forest. The ACC's leading scorer
for the second year in a row, Novak kicked field goals of 36, 38 and 28 yards and totaled 12 points to become
Maryland's single-season school record holder for most points scored with 113.
Rookie - Leon Washington, Florida State, RB, 5-9, 180, Fr., Jacksonville, Fla. Washington, a true freshman, rushed for a career-high 134 yards on 26 carries in just his second career start in the Seminoles' 31-14 win over Florida State Saturday. In addition, Washington returned three punts for 37 yards and two kickoffs for 45 yards and finished the day with 216 all-purpose yards.
