COLLEGE PARK, Md.
The University of Maryland men's and women's cross country teams have been working hard in the off-season to prepare for 2002, under the direction of head coach Trent Sanderson. "I'm looking forward to my first full year as the teams' coach," said Sanderson.
During the indoor track season, the members of the men's team qualified for the IC4A's for the first time in three years. In addition, the men's team and the women's team both scored higher at the ACC Indoor Championships than they have in the past four years.
At the ACC Championship, Kim Smith, Bridget Baker and Courtney Fiorovanti all ran career-low times.
"The chemistry is there," said Sanderson of how the team is coming together. "Recruiting is going well, and the outdoor season should be incredible."
