Major League Lacrosse is into its second season as the country's premier professional outdoor league. Nine former Maryland Terps are on the rosters at the start of the season.
The Rochester Rattlers lead the way with three former Terps -- defenseman Casey Connor, goalie Brian Dougherty and attacker Matt Hahn. All three saw significant action in the team's opener, a 13-10 loss to the Baltimore Bayhawks on June 6 at Ravens Stadium. Dougherty played all 60 minutes in goal and made 19 saves. Connor started on defense and Hahn scored a goal in his MLL debut.
The Bayhawks feature two former Terps, both in their second year with Baltimore -- midfielder Kip Fulks and defenseman Brian Reese. Both started in the win over Rochester.
The New Jersey Pride also have two former Terps in 2001 graduate Chris Malone and '99 grad Jason Carrier. At midfield, Malone assisted a Jesse Hubbard goal in the Pride's season-opening 12-7 win over Bridgeport on June 7.
The Bridgeport Barrage have two Terps on the roster in goalie Pat McGinnis and attacker Scott Hochstadt.
This week's MLL schedule features New Jersey at Baltimore on June 13; Long Island at New Jersey, Boston at Bridgeport and Baltimore at Rochester all on June 15.
